Saturday 4 October 2025: Cambridge is kindly inviting us to join their day trip to Trier to see the Marcus Aurelius Exhibition and the Stadtmuseum

Rheinisches Landesmuseum: Emperor, Commander, Philosopher

Come discover the multifaceted life and times of Marcus Aurelius and take a 90 minute tour and travel back in time to the Roman Empire of the 2nd century through a very well orchestrated arearchaeological exhibition addressing the fascination surrounding Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius. 

Optional Afternoon Tour                                                                                              The Stadtmuseum Simeonstift has a further exhibition, which is an artistic representations of good rule from the time of Marcus Aurelius to the present. 

Day Trip to Trier:

10:27am:           Board the  train to Trier (50min)

11:21am:           Arrive at Trier Bahnhof

11:25am:           Walk to Reinisches Museum (15min)

12:00pm             Midday tour of Marcus Aurelius Exhibit (90min)

1:40pm:               Walk (15min) via the 4th century Imperial Roman Baths Weinstubbe Kesselstatt for lunch and drinks

3:30pm:              Walk (15min) to Stadtmuseum tour (75 min optional)

4:10 pm:             Walk via Porta Negra to drinks then train back to Luxembourg as and when

Price: € 26 euros if both museums one tour, or €32 euros for two tours (to be verified).
